30 Day Fanfic Meme - Day 1 and 2
Saw
peacewish working on this and figured hey, why not?
Day 1 - How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?
The first fandom I actually wrote down something for (instead of making up stories for it in my head to entertain myself) was "Sailor Moon". My only exposure to the fandom at the time was during the every-other-weekend visits with my dad, because he had internet and my mom didn't. As for what drew me to write -- I think it was a combo of three things; 1) how hands-down awesome "Sailor Moon" was, 2) how easy it was to make up original characters for it, because after years of making up OCs for my own stories, why on Earth would I use just someone else's characters? 3) my sister was into it also and helped me make the stories and original characters.
Yes, we had our own gaggle of Second Generation Sailor Scouts, and our own evil villain and our own special magical crystals that would make the other planets habitable. I still remember how proud of ourselves we were for having a threesome (two girls, one guy, they eventually got married), a Sailor Scout who was a drag-queen, Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune being married with kids (because duh) and an OC who was a magical construct made from all the Neo-Scouts' DNA. There were running gags about custody battles, visitation rights, ('cause we are kids of divorce and that shit was funny) and her always being left in charge of the luggage. We were witty and clever, ok.
Day 2 – Name the fandoms you've written in, and how much you've written in that fandom, and if you still write in it.
Sailor Moon -- No more than 30,000 words. Four chapters of one fic, one small fic, a lot of various snippets. - Haven't been in it since I hit my 20s.
ElfQuest -- Profiles for various OCs, to join those OC Holts. Three fanfic of uncertain length. - No longer involved.
Ranma 1/2 -- At LEAST four fics that I remember, somewhere around 20,000 words, collectively. - No longer involved.
Poekmon -- One fic, 435 words. - I think I was into this fandom for a weekend.
Gundam Wing -- 20,000 words, two fics. - No longer involved, thank god.
Harry Potter -- 48,787 words, five fics, including 39,000 word finished multi-parter. - No longer involved.
Digimon -- 25,800 words, two unfinished multi-parters and one short fic. - No longer involved.
DragonBall Z -- 27,800 words, three fics. - I DON'T WANNA TALK ABOUT IT.
Naruto -- 54,122 words, 25 fics, plus some drabbles of unknown length, plus an unspeakable amount of RP logs. Can you tell which of these was my Big fandom for years? - No longer involved, though some part of me still misses it.
Kingdom Hearts -- 28,730 words, one unfinished multi-parter, two short fics - Still playing the games, but since I got into it 500 years after all my friends, I was never really involved in the fandom.
Avatar: The Last Airbender -- 3,200 words, two short fics. -- Loved the show, couldn't stand A:TLA fandom. Only really wrote things to amuse the household.
Tranformers -- 45,000 just for posted one-shots and multi-parters, NOT including drabbles, snippets, or in progress fic. Either way, it's going to start rivaling Naruto for amount of fanfic written. - Most certainly still involved.
