TF: Rescue Bots, ep 1 and 2
First: Thank you, YouTube, for making owning a TV and having cable unnecessary.
Second: So as most of you know, "Transformers: Rescue Bots" is a new TF series that's just started airing, which I believe marks the first time there have been two Transformers shows being produced and aired around the same time.
Rescue Bots is aimed at the elementary school age-group, unlike the much more mature TF:Prime, is done in flash animation style, and contains themes of cooperation, helping others, and learning to understand people from different cultures. In short, it's the -- and forgive me for this -- "boy version" of My Little Ponies: Friendship is Magic. That said, I'm not holding my breath for any articles expressing amazement or delight that the show is so good, it's attracted a following of girls and adult women.
BUT MY OVERBLOWN BITTERNESS ASIDE
I enjoyed the episodes a lot. Plot wise, it's very much kiddie-show silliness, (RAMPAGING MECHANICAL T-REX. LAVA) but the characters are collectively a delight, the dialogue is charming, and it's got great comedic timing. The main thing that really pleased me is that it's a Transformer show that's NOT about fighting a war or taking out the enemy. It's entirely about protecting others and learning to work together. Given the hyper-violence that the TF franchise tends to favor, this is a nice change of pace.
( Some minor spoilers, not that it really matters )
