It's the combination of the emoticon and HTML tags. If you're using tags and you want to make this face >_> you have to use the code for those things, which is... ah shit, how do I type it without it displaying as the angle bracket... "ampersand gt semicolon" but without any spaces. And using the actual characters instead of the words for them. Aw heck lemme find a thing to link to. Here, they're in the first table on this page.
